Editorial Well, it's been extra hectic getting SynTax out this time. It's just as well that I enjoy a challenge! Added to the complication of the first paper-based issue and a week's holiday in June (from which I got back to piles of mail and oodles of emails) I also picked up two workshop commissions for ComputerActive in as many weeks. In fact the deadline for the second one is the same day as SynTax is due to go out. I am very pleased with the look of the paper issue - it ended up a lot thicker than I had expected - I started with 80 pages but it looks like it will end up at about 120+ - and I hope that those of you who have swapped to it will enjoy it. Do let me know what you think. I've tried to stick to a fairly consistent layout but have added enough variety in frames and fonts to make it an interesting format. There are fewer long solutions in this issue because I think it is better to concentrate on reviews and articles which are - hopefully - more useful and of interest to the majority, than on solutions which would only be useful to a few at any one time. If you disagree, give a shout. Everyone also has a copy of the new SynDex with this issue to free up mag space. Despite all the work and the holiday, I am plugging on with Rollercoaster Tycoon . I'm determined to finish one game this year! It is excellent fun but could have done with a bit more variety from one scenario to the next. I'll give a 'final view' next issue. I'm also playing the Sierra edutainment title, Pepper's Adventures in Time which is great fun but v-e-r-y anti-British. Look out for a review next issue. By the time you read this, Jean's TADS version of Excuse Me, Do You Have the Time? will have been added to the library. It's excellent, it's freeware - and if you want to check it out it's on the SynTax disk (or on an extra one given with the paper version). Yes, as there was room on the disk now the library isn't on there, I thought I'd give you a free gift! I hope you'll enjoy the game. Anyone want to review it? Talking of reviews, continuing thanks to those of you who contributed this issue. You made it much easier for me to put the magazine together this time. Please keep sending the contributions for next time - whether you love or hate a game, other readers are very interested in your views for both old and new games, shareware or commercial. I'm almost out of space so, until September, enjoy the rest of the summer and happy adventuring to you all. Sue - o -
