Wilderness Dreams A screensaver from Forward Design, cost $14.95 Reviewed and enjoyed by Sue Though screensavers aren't necessary to stop monitor burn on modern machines, there is something much nicer about looking at a saver than staring at your regular screen display. If I'm working, and want to have a think, a good screen saver will soothe and relax me! And when I go to walk the dog, I prefer to leave a saver running and see it when I get back. I'm always on the look out for a good screensaver and I found a demo of Wilderness Dreams on the Net. Confusingly, two other screensavers from the same firm, Northern Lights and Enchanted Forest, are the same program ... Forward Design say "different names are used for different markets" but they don't say why! The demo is quick to download, being only 886K in size. I tried it, liked it and decided to buy it. This was very easily accomplished with secure ordering and my trusty Barclaycard; Forward Design quickly email the complete version to you. I LOVE ordering over the Net! So, why do I like this saver so much? Basically, it's very simple but flexible. It draws a fractal forest on your screen but you can pick the number and species of trees (oak, birch and/or pine), time of day (afternoon, sunset or evening) and season (spring, autumn or winter). You can also choose to have falling or settled snow, and even add Christmas lights to the trees! The background is of rolling hills with flowers speckled through the grass. You can select a random option for a complete surprise of what settings you get! It is this versatility, both in terms of the settings and the variable nature of fractals themselves that makes me enjoy this screensaver so much.
