Might and Magic VI Hints An addendum to the hint file published previously Taken from the Net by Carolyn Brown [wells that boost your stats] This addendum begins with an interesting discussion about maximizing the stat point bonuses awarded by certain wells. In the MM6 hint file I recommended that people create characters without putting any points into the luck stat because the well in New Sorpigal will allow someone to boost up to +15 because it regenerates every month or so. Now more info was posted to the newsgroup. Newsgroups: comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.rpg Subject: Re: MM6: Permanent Stats Fountain List? {updated: the +2 wells respawn approximately every week} The well is good for 8 drinks per _week_. In effect, you have 16 points of luck to spread around. Also, all the +2 stat wells are good as long as your stat is 14 or below. If you exhaust the 8 drinks per month limit and still your char's stat is 14 or below. Come back next _week_, you can have another 8 drinks. This is reported to be the same for all +2 stat wells. The +5/+10 special wells/springs/fountains are good only once per character. I don't know if they might work again when the area is reset. My game hasn't lasted long enough for any of the area with these places to reset yet. -kirati@u.washington.edu ----- [getting impossible skills for archers (e.g plate armor)] From: THOMAS VAN WORMER Subject: MM6 impossible skills If you are using archers or others who are not allowed plate armor skill, they can still get it by going to Berserker's Fury, buying everything on the list, and then not taking no for an answer when the character doing the buying is told on the right side of the screen that no more skills are available. I was able to get additional skills for more than one type of character (druid, cleric, archer) by repeatedly clicking on the 'Sorry, no' messages. What usually happens is you get the bzzzt buzzer, but sometimes you get the money chi-ching. When you get the money chi-ching, a new skill (unknown for the moment) has been added to the purchasing character's list. Exit the shop and check your skills, & voila!, you got one you didn't expect. This happens at Blade's End, Berserker's, Protection Services, Buccaneer's & other places. It cannot be depended on to always work, which means that I haven't yet found out exactly what controls the bug. Also, some skills, like dagger for clerics, don't seem to get through the bug, or I haven't tried long enough. Seems like it might be interesting to fully explore this on behalf of creating a group of super characters! [Ron's update] This is another bug, it works for almost everything at every guild. Where you place the cursor will determine which "unavailable" skill you get to buy. You can even get light and dark magic for classes that should be prohibited. Just click around at every guild and everyone can carry a sword and wear plate. - o -
