Baldur's Gate - Part 6 Solution v1.0 by Alex van Kaam @~Continued from Issue 63 Peldvate Monsters you will find here are Brown Bears, Giant Spiders, Huge Spiders, Wild Dogs, Gibberlings, Black Talon Elite, Wraith Spiders, Huge Spiders, Flinds, Black Bears. In the north-east you will find a hunter, tell him you are adventurers and he will tell you about his father, not much of a story but better than nothing. In the north-west a woman called Viconia (Elf Cleric, Neutral Evil) will be calling for help. Offer to help her and a mercenary of the Flaming Fist will appear, telling you that the woman is evil, protect her from the mercenary and she will want to join you (you will lose 2 reputation), I leave it up to you, I personally did not let her join. The rest of the area is easy, explore it and then head off to... Farmhouse south of Baldur's Gate (1) Monsters you will meet here are Ankheg, loads of them . In the north-east you'll find Gerde, she will tell you the rules of Ankheg hunting and give you 75gp if you kill the Ankhegs to the east of her. In the south-west you can find the farmhouses, but nobody is home, south of the farmhouses you find 3 people, talk to them and they will tell you they can no longer fish the waters because of the Bitch Queen Umberlee. Offer to help them out. They will tell you she lives east of the bridge to Baldur's Gate. In the south centre you will encounter Ajantis (Human Paladin, Lawful Good), you can let him join your party if you want, but since my main character was already a paladin I did not take him into the party. North of him you will find the entrance to an Ankheg lair, there are some good treasures to be found including Brun's Son's body and it won't harm your experience either. In the centre of the map you will find farmer Brun, tell him you found the body of his son, then talk to him again and give him 100 Gp. Leave the area via the north (btw, you can deliver some Ankheg remains to the smithy in Beregost and they can make an armour from it) Bridge to Baldur's Gate (1) Don't cross the bridge but keep on the east side and you will find the house of Tenya, she is the Bitch Queen Umberlee that the fishermen talked about/hired you for. Tell her the truth, she will get angry and try to attack you, be faster, just before you kill her she will tell you that the fishermen killed her mother and stole a magic item she used, they now use this item to clean the sea of fish. Offer to help her. Head back to the Farmhouse south of Baldur's Gate (2) Talk to Sonner (one of the fisherman) using 1, 2, 1. You got the bowl but you seem to have upset yet another God known as the Storm God and they warn you to stay away from any Talos shrine. Head back to Tenya and hand her the bowl. Bridge to Baldur's Gate (2) The only monster you should meet is an Ankheg. Once Tenya is gone cross the bridge, a mercenary of the Flaming Fist will approach you, tell him your origin is Candlekeep, then his commander called Scar will appear, he will ask you if you where the group involved in the fiasco in the Nashkel Mines (I thought we did quite well??), tell him you are and he will tell you that you have caused a lot of commotion in Baldur's Gate. He needs your help to investigate something and he can't trust insiders, accept his quest to investigate the Seven Suns Trading Coster and tell him about the Iron Throne. Once you're over the bridge you will meet Quale (Gnome Cleric / Illusionist, Chaotic Neutral), my party was fine as it is, so I did not let him join me. Before you follow the road into Baldur's leave the area via the north. Farmhouse north-east of Baldur's Gate Monsters you will encounter here are Zombies. Explore the area and you will find Wenric in the north-west, if you talk to him he will tell you to count the zombies and you probably have some more to go. Baldur's Gate: The Gate Area (Lower City) As you enter this area Elminister will approach you, I talked to him using 2,2,2. Explore the whole area and talk to everyone, enter every house/tavern/store and you will learn many things: - the Iron Throne is in the west tower - the mines in Nashkel are working again - everyone thinks it's the Amnish that are causing the troubles - both the merchant and the Seven Sons have been acting strange in the south you'll have to pick a lock on a house, inside a man called Arkoin will ask you to go get a body from the sewers. In the centre you will find a large tavern, inside you will find Brevlik, he offers you the job of stealing a telescope from the Hall of Wonders. I accepted it, who knows, I might stumble upon it one day. In the west you will find a dome, enter it and you will learn that Arkoin and Nemphre are both trouble. If you go upstairs you will interfere in something, be nice and apologise and they will leave. North of the dome is a house, enter it and you will be asked for the password, you can either guess it or leave. I tried to guess it and was wrong, he got offended and attacked me. He got killed I went through the door in this building and was attacked by another Rogue, he got killed too. And after him whole loads of other people who are a member of this guild. Maybe not such a good idea to guess the password, but too late now Many of the chests and cabinets were trapped here, so be careful. You should also meet Narlen Darkwalk who will offer you a robbing job, decline it. Explore the whole building, you should find the Manual of Quickness of Action and some stairs leading down which I could not access? I left via the south-east exit. Baldur's Gate: South-east corner (Lower City) Again explore it fully, we soon met Nemphre who wanted me to get an amulet from Arkoin, I wrote it down. In a tavern we met Sanadal Gwist, she is worried about her lost sons Shank and Carbos. Talk a bit more and she will confess they are bandits and they owe her money In the south in a warehouse we met with Nadarin, he hired us to kill a Basilisk that escaped from one of his warehouses near the harbour. Nikolai will approach you and tell you about the city for 15gp. if you want to hear it all that is. In the tavern to the west you will meet G'Axir, he will reward you if you bring him a gem that lies somewhere in the harbour. If you enter one of the houses in the centre you will interrupt Taxek and Michael robbing the house, I choose for option 3 I left via the west exit. Baldur's Gate: Harbour (Lower City) Again explore it, you can enter the ship in the south-east of the map if you want too. In a big stone building you should meet the Harbour Master, talk to him about the strange things that have been happening. West of the house of the Harbour Master Kerrachus will approach you and you will learn that the world is no longer flat, HURRAY In the south-west you will find the temple of the Bitch Queen Umberlee, once inside demand to speak to Tenya and demand your reward for helping her...instead she will give you a dead body of a child? Strange but true. In one of the houses you will meet Ghorak, offer to cure him and he will tell you that you should bring the skull of his brother - which can be found behind a painting in the Three old Kegs - to Agnasia in the Ladies hall. Next to the house of Ghorak you should find a locked house, pick the lock and enter it, Larriaz will tell you to leave her house, ask her why she - as a Sirine - is living here, offer to help her, if you don't leave she will attack you. In the end we were forced to kill her. In the warehouse next to Larriaz you will meet Noralee, she seemed to have dropped some gauntlets between here and the harbour in a crate, she asks you to find them for her. We found it quickly, in a crate south of the temple for the Bitch Queen Umberlee. Next to this warehouse is a 2nd one, this is the warehouse with the loose Basilisk, kill it and get the gems from its body. Now head over to G'Axir with the gems and to Nadarin with the message that you killed the Basilisk. Back in the harbour explore the rest, near the gate to the north a friend of Khalid and Jaheira will approach you, talk to him and he will leave you after the conversation. Just south of the gate is a house, enter it and some Ogre Mages will attack you. Kill them I would say, I found this a hard battle, mostly because of all the spells they cast at us, but we did kill them. In the most north-western corner of this map you'll find the Iron Throne, enter the tower. Iron Throne Tower: Level 1 As you enter a merchant will approach you, ask him what he means with madness and then offer him 150Gp. to tell you everything he knows...he'll still run off. A guard will approach you, tell him you're from Sembia, he'll let you through. Go up the stairs. Iron Throne Tower: Level 2 Dra'Tan will approach you, tell him you are here to deliver a message to Sarevok and his acolytes. When Dra'Tan tells you they are creeps tell him you will pass that on. If you would tell him the other option he will call the guards and why waste your health on them. Iron Throne Tower: Level 3 As you enter this level a normal guard will approach you, again asking your business here. Again tell him you're from Sembia. If you talk to Nortuary he will ask you where Reiltar is and that his son Sarevok is playing boss here. I told him I did not know. Emissary Tar will approach you, ask her how you can be of service to her and tell her to not go to the 5th floor. Iron Throne Tower: Level 4 Talk to the bartender and tell him you're from Sembia, he will tell you that Reiltar and Brunos are at Candlekeep. South of him you will be approached by Destus Gurn, who thinks you are Emissary Tar. Let him think that and tell him you have your own agenda and would like to go upstairs. Take the stairs up to the next floor. Iron Throne Tower: Level 5 As you enter this floor Zhalimar Cloudwulfe will talk to you, tell him who you are and tell him you will crush him and his friends (Gardush, Naaman, Diyab, Assim and Alai). I found this the hardest battle so far and did the following, I entered this floor via the left staircase, after the conversation I headed down and went up via the right staircase, this way I could pick them off 1 at a time. Their bodies are filled with items, so inspect them all, the body of Zhalimar Cloudwulfe has a scroll, written by Sarevok telling him to stand in his place. When you enter the chambers to the south you will encounter Thaldorn, easy to kill. In the most south room you will find 2 letters, 1 from Sarevok to his Father (Reiltar) telling how he killed you? And one from Tuth to Reiltar offering a meeting in Candlekeep. Leave the tower, as soon as you come out a mercenary from the Flaming Fist will approach you, I used 2 and 1 on him, he will tall you that Scar is still waiting for you. Go west. Baldur's Gate: South-west corner (Lower City) Again explore everything and everybody. South-east you should find the Merchant Hall, locked and I was unable to pick the lock. In the south is the house of Sunin, a mage that does not like you entering his house, I had to defend myself so he and his servants had to die. In the north-west you'll find the home of the Flaming Fist, east of that is a tavern with a Green Slime problem, kill them all if you want (the Slimes that is) In the centre-east (north of the Merchant hall) is the Seven Suns. Enter the building and ask for the owner, you will be refused, ask for Jhasso and you will learn he is missing, you will also learn that the other owners/merchants seem to be shape shifters. East of the Seven Suns is a house containing a few thieves, enter it and they will attack you unless you give them your money. Enter the Flaming Fist Barracks. Flaming Fist Barracks (1) Talk to Scar who will be waiting in the corridor for you, tell him about what the merchant told you, Scar will ask you to go back and kill the doppelgangers. Head back to the Seven Suns and kill the doppelgangers on the ground floor, then head up the stairs. Kill the 2 up there, then go down and go into the basement. Kill the doppelganger and talk to Jhasso, tell him Scar sent you and make him tell you what has been happening. Return to Scar, get your reward and accept his 2nd quest. People have been disappearing and he asks you to patrol the east of the city and find/clean the sewers. You might remember the staircase down in the thieves guild. Well so did I, so I headed to it but still could not go down, so I left and spotted the sewer grating in front of one of the houses that belongs to the guild. Sewers: East part Monsters you will encounter here are Carrion Crawlers, a Phase Spider and an Ogre Mage We explored the whole area, found an exit to the centre part of the sewers in the north-west and we encountered an Ogre Mage roughly in the centre. After killing him make sure you take the ring he has. West of him we found several bodies, we took one and brought it to Arkoin, my thief then pickpocketed him and got his necklace, with this we then headed to Nemphre and gave her the necklace. We headed down into the sewers again and tried the exit west of the bodies, this led to the Under-Cellar. Back in the sewers we took the north-west exit. Sewers: Centre part Monsters you might encounter are Kobold Commandos and Mustard Jelly We found several exits, some again to the under-cellar, other just up into the streets. In the Centre we met Ratchild, a Kobold with an identity problem. I used 2, 1. There is an exit in the north-west and in the south-west that leads to the west part of the sewers. And a few more exits into the Under-Cellar. Sewers: West part Monster you meet will be SewerFolk, Giant Spiders, Phase Spiders, Ghouls and Ghasts We soon met Schlumpsha the sewer king and his people, I talked to him using 1,2 after which they attacked me. We killed him and his minions. North-west of him we found a spiders lair. North of this we met Shvertszche, who was mutated by Schlumpsha, I talked to him using 1. In the north-west we found an exit that led into a basement of the Iron Throne. That was about it so we left the sewers via the stairs in the south-west, we came up in the streets close to the Flaming Fist Barracks. Enter the Flaming Fist Barracks. Flaming Fist Barracks (2) Tell Scar about the Ogre Mage and his Carrion Crawlers (option 2) and give him the ring, he will tell you that he will wait outside if you want to talk about the Iron Throne. Leave the Barracks and you should find Tiax (Gnome Cleric/Thief, Chaotic Evil) outside (it was night when I was there), I did not let him join me though. After healing up I had a talk with Scar, and he said that Duke Eltan wished to talk to us about the Iron Throne, we accepted of course. We told the Duke we knew the Iron Throne was involved in a plot to harm the city. He then offered us a mission to get evidence against the Iron Throne. We accepted (heck we already have the scroll from the Iron Throne Tower). Since talking to him again (giving the evidence) will trigger chapter 6 we left the barracks and took the exit to the north. Baldur's Gate: Western area (Lower City) In the south-east corner we found Fenten who paid us 250gp for each Ankheg head we brought him. That was about as far as we could get here without running into the 2nd wall, so we headed east. Baldur's Gate: Central Area (Upper City) In the east we met Nadine in one of the houses, she gave us a talisman we should give her son (who probably is in one of the taverns) In the attic of a big house west of Nadine the lady of the house asked us if we were the new servants, we said we were. She did not believe us but she did not call the guards, so we explored the house and on the 2nd floor we encountered Ithmeera and Helshara. They where talking about a Floating Ship, and the 3 items needed to make it work they divided amongst themselves. I tried to leave in peace by telling them I was a servant but they still attacked me. So I had to kill them, after they were dead Delorna appeared. Again I tried to leave again she attacked us. On their bodies we found several nice items (gem, necklace, spell scroll and gold). In the desk we found the 3 items they were protecting, spell book, statue and stone. We took them and left the house, there must be someone interested in them? In the west we met Lady Hannah, she was very upset about a guy called Ragefast, he enslaves a Nymph in his quarters. We told her we would look out for him, his house she said was in the north-west. We also found a house with 6 or so stone statues, very lifelike. Close to where we met Lady Hannah we entered a store and got attacked by a few dozen Rabid Chickens?? Killed them and left the store. We left the area via the west @~To be concluded next issue - o -
