Puzzle Corner - Flix v1.5 I saw a demo of Flix years ago but never managed to find the game in the shops. Now it's been declared deleted, it is available through various abandonware sites and when I saw it on one of them, I couldn't help but download it! Flix is a jigsaw program with a difference - all the pictures are animated. They are abstract designs of various types including rotating 3D shapes, pulsating plasma screens, rolling balls, sine waves, rippling mesh effects and mazes. Most of them are very brightly coloured ... one could almost say garish in some cases. All of them are great fun to complete. You can solve the puzzles individually or as part of a series of games. Some of them, Joint Venture and Mix 'n' Match, are two player games. The two I tried, Single Mingle and Scramblecade, are solo games. In Single Mingle you simply pick which puzzle you want to complete and get on with it. But in Scramblecade, you complete the puzzles in sequence against the clock. Various bonuses give you more time, and there are five skill settings from Novice to Superb. These change factors such as the initial time allowed, points per piece placed correctly, points per puzzles, number of bonus squares and so on. There is a save game option. But mostly I was quite happy playing the games individually, using the save option, and taking my time. There are two game sets, Fit To Be Tiled and Grid Riddlers, each of which contains nine puzzles so there are only 18 in all. I knew it wasn't going to take a long time to complete it so I wanted to savour it. The game is great fun and by changing the settings you could make some of the pictures even harder to solve though I stuck to the default settings. I'm very glad that I finally got the opportunity to play it. I'm not going to add the game to the library but if anyone wants a copy, just send me four first class stamps and I'll send you a copy on a recycled disk. Or you can download it yourself from sites such as Underdogs at http://underdogs.gamingdepot.com Sue - o -
