On the Net - Prime Sites of Issue 64 Stupid Computers - www.stupidcomputers.com If you need to know anything about the workings of computers and don't know who to ask (or don't like to admit your ignorance!) this is the place to go. Not only does it explain the technicalities of computers from the basics upwards, but it also has other handy sections. Want to build your own computer? This site will tell you how, in 20 easy steps. The Buyer's Guide explains how to decide exactly what hardware you want - which processor, SCSI Vs. IDE etc. There's a tech guide to hard drives (ever wondered exactly how they work?) and reviews of useful hardware and software. Very handy. Amazon UK - www.amazon.co.uk Amazon USA - www.amazon.com I love books and I l-o-v-e these sites. I first started ordering from Amazon in the States when I was looking for an out of print book. They have an excellent service for finding these, and twice now they've tracked down elusive titles for me at a good price. The UK sites opened last year and has a fast delivery service as well as excellent prices. I have ordered from them one day and received the books the next morning - much easier than going to Smiths, and cheaper too. The UK site also sells music and audio tapes and if you subscribe to their mailing lists, you'll be sent regular emailed newsletters. One nice touch is that they always pop either a bookmark or a little block of their own post-it notes into each parcel. I'm obviously spending far too much money with them because they sent me a Christmas present of an insulated coffee mug! Sue - o -
