Z Reviewed by Michael Raven A Command & Conquer clone, you control a pack of red robots, tanks, jeeps and guns to defeat the enemy blue fortress, and win. Although the requirements on the box say a 486 DX2/66, and a Pentium recommended, I've had the game itself run at full detail levels on a 386 DX with a special Cyrix 486 DLC processor installed. (Approximately equal to a 486 SX/40) Although the movie runs slowly on this machine, the game and movie runs at full speed definitely on a 486 DX2/80, and probably on less. Besides, once you've seen the movie once, you probably won't watch it again. The robots are pretty funny just to watch, blasting away at creatures, walls, fishing, playing cards, but occasionally their playing may result in disaster. Sometimes, if they are armed with grenades, they'll waste them by hurling them around the place, and may even strike a uncollected grenade box lying on the ground! This results in twenty grenades exploding in the nearby area. Of course, with strategy, you can use this to your advantage. Get a pack of robots already armed with grenades, have them chuck one at an unexploded box in an enemy sector, and tell them to run for their life as the grenades blast apart anything nearby! You get a large selection of robots, from simple, quick-build ones with rifles, to snipers, bazooka armed & heavy armoured toughs, pyromaniacs and lasers! Now on budget at 9.99, this cannot be missed! PLAYABILITY 90% Controls are simple, although the robots AI will make them do what they want occasionally. LASTABILITY 76% Twenty long, hard missions to complete. GRAPHICS 92% Brilliant animated figures, all runnable on a 486. SOUND 91% Hear the robots yell as they're ambushed, someone insult you as you lose, and good music too. OVERALL SCORE 85% One of my favourite games, and if you're into real-time strategy, you'll most likely want this. - o -
