Editorial Well, this is an exciting issue of SynTax for me - and I hope for you too. Firstly, it's the first one which is also being emailed to subscribers. I contacted as many people by email as I could to let them know that I was doing it, but if for some reason you got missed out and you want to change to the emailed version, just let me know. It is sent out zipped with clear instructions, and costs 50p less per issue than the disk version, so if you want to swap, I'll credit you for the appropriate amount against your next sub. Secondly, I decided I'd also like to give SynTax a higher profile on line, and have paid 'real' money for a proper web site. I haven't (as yet) had time to put anything up there, but its URL is http://www.syntax2000.co.uk - all the 'syntax' sites had gone and I thought the 2000 would be easy to remember! I would like to put some downloads up on the site eventually, the PD version, and the SynDex, but I don't want to do anything at the expense of subscribers. I don't know how possible it is to password-protect some areas so that only subscribers can reach them ... but I hope that my plans for the site will eventually bring in more readers and make SynTax better and more enjoyable for everyone. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Some that were given when I was asking about the email version, are printed in this issue's 'Letters' section. The programs being given with each issue are proving to be very popular but Jean Childs suggested that the programs on the disk should be pointed out a bit clearer somewhere in the magazine. So from now on, they will be noted in the Index for the paper version and the menu for the disk version. I've almost finished Pandora's Box - reviewed this issue - and can't recommend it highly enough for anyone who enjoys visual puzzles. Ditto for The Sims ... brilliant programming and immensely entertaining. I've been twiddling with an Infocom emulator for the Psion 3a so that I can take it on holiday with me and will write about that next issue. I am very grateful to everyone who contributes to SynTax but must say that there is a particular shortage of reviews so please, please, PLEASE ... if you're playing ANY game, don't be shy, do write something for me to print in a future issue.
