Leygref's Castle (RPG - part of Disk 300) Reviewed by Graham Raven I started out actually liking this game quite a lot! The game never pretends to be an epic quest, rather it's a fun distraction aimed at keeping you amused for the odd half hour now and then, and it did that very well for me initially. You didn't have to spend an age learning how to play the game either before you could get going, in fact, you could virtually leap straight in and muddle through fairly well, certainly well enough to survive for a brief time and start to get an idea how everything worked. Unfortunately after my initial light-hearted dozen of so attempts, all of which resulted in one very dead character who ran out of strength (same every time), I decided that I ought to read the instructions thoroughly, and also try every variation of weapon, armour, race, sex, plus anything else I could think of. This took some time, but once it was done I was able to quickly come to the conclusion that regardless of race, armour, weapon, sex, strength, intellect, you name it, you ALWAYS ended up very dead, very quickly, and due to lack of strength! I couldn't help thinking I was missing something here, a sure-fire monster death spell, or a 'decapitate all opponents' sword maybe. So I tried the game another half dozen times and yes, died every time through lack of strength. I tried fighting; I tried running away from everything. The only thing I succeeded brilliantly at was dying PDQ. Rating: Flu bug! - o -
