THE BIG 3 Review by Michael Raven A Windows shareware game this time, a World War 2 simulation. Control the Allied, Axis or Soviet powers over 1939 to 1945. The computer players are a bit weak, or I'm very good - after learning the rules I managed to stop France and Yugoslavia from being conquered by the Germans by 1942! Even so, it's very enjoyable, strategically, and requires a lot of thought. It also includes a 'Historical Variation' option, which when used, allows the computer to randomly select a number of variations to help or hinder the players through the battle. Things like improved French and Italian forces, milder Russian winters, different availability of forces, (an extra sea fleet instead of infantry etc.) all these kinds of things can be found. PLAYABILITY 81% Although there are a few rules, you learn them quickly. GRAPHICS 80% Quite good, but nothing special. LASTABILITY 75% A number of scenarios and a scenario editor for you to try, but it all comes to the same thing. SOUND 85% Allows no sound, PC Speaker or Sound Card. OVERALL 83% A good game, but which is limited in variation. - o -
