EverQuest Hints and Tips To Kill or Not to Kill You don't have to be involved in killing or being killed by other human players if you don't want to. When you begin EverQuest, you default to non-PK (player-killer) play. There's enough gameplay in EverQuest so that it's interesting for quite a while, so turning to murder is not necessary to relieve boredom. If, on the other hand, you actually want to PK other players, it isn't hard to change your status. You start the game with a book in your inventory, and if you give it to a priest of disorder NPC (non-player character), it will change your setting to PK. Of course, once you do that, it's next to impossible to go back to the good side of things. How Do I Get My Hands on Those Journeyman's Boots? The booty you seek lies in the dungeon of Najena. Be sure to bring along some friends, because the only sure way to get your hands on them is to camp out until you catch a rare spawn, quite possibly waiting in line (or duking it out) with a bunch of other questers seeking the same thing. The journeyman's boots are also rumored to be available via a close-to-impossible quest. Look for a fellow named Bootstrutter who wanders the Rathe Mountains. EverQuest's Online Manual The manual that came in the box pales in comparison to the one you'll find on your Windows desktop, by going to Start/Programs/EverQuest. This manual actually updates itself! Don't Decay If you have to log off the game suddenly before you have had time to recover your corpse, there is still a week of offline time, or 24 hours of online time, before it decays--but only after you have reached level six. It's a good idea to use the /loc command when death is imminent and make a note of your coordinates. Then you will have a good idea where to find your corpse, so you can at least get your stuff back. Go Quest, Young Player If you're ramping up points, fulfilling a quest gives you much more experience than just random hunting and killing. Picking the right quests can also help out your faction standings. - o -
