Editorial Time has flown since last issue. I hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year. I was given two HTML books and am hoping to have the SynTax site up by the first anniversary of its purchase! The HTML version of SynTax should hopefully follow close behind once I know what I'm doing. On the achievement side, I now have a newly built higher spec PC - an 800mhz AMD Athlon with 256 meg of RAM, a Voodoo 5500 card and a SoundBlaster Live card, thanks to Alex for all his help and advice. I've started looking at some DVDs but though I appreciate the high quality of the film and the user-friendliness of the menu system, I still find it a lot more Sue-friendly to lounge on the settee and watch a video rather than sit in a swivel office chair to watch a DVD. As promised the SynTax CD will have been updated by the time you read this and you can upgrade your current copy for just œ3 if you haven't missed any issues. As before there's a small surcharge for missing issues. With next issue, I'll give out a new copy of the SynDex covering issues 1-70. I was very short of reviews for this issue so I've looked at several demos of new games and reviewed those to keep up the balance. I only have a few reviews in hand for Issue 71 so I would be especially grateful for any contributions for that issue. I've enjoyed investigating the demos and it's given me a few ideas for games I'd like to play in the future. Though sometimes I wonder if demos always help the software houses. With a limited amount of spare time, sometimes just playing one or two levels of a game is enough for me, even if I enjoy it. It can be too tempting to think, right, now I'll try something else. That way, I get to see a variety of different games, whereas if I played one from start to finish, I'd miss out on all the others. What do YOU think? The Letters section is also conspicuous by its absence. I know that this issue is always hard to put together because with so many other commitments over Christmas time, none of us has as much time to devote to the computer. Hopefully that section will be back and as lively as ever again in March. March - spring - can't wait! Walking the dog is an exercise in keeping upright in mud at the moment. I'm just getting over a heavy cold ... I hope you're all keeping more healthy! See you next issue when I hope there'll be a lot less 'me' in it! Sue - o -
