Ravers vs Peaceniks v1.3.1 Review by Graham Raven Described by the author as a VB, single player strat. game. Two 'armies' battle it out (with accompanying music!) for local domination. Some of you may have experienced Michael Raven's infamous 'Nut the Wall', which took computer games into new and uncharted depths! (depths of what exactly, I'd rather not say!) This latest effort is yet another landmark in games programming. Naturally, it is very much in his own, inimitable style. Possibly the finest element of Ravers vs Peacniks (RVP) is the musical accompaniment, which is almost tolerable. However, on the version of the game which I had to review, you could either play the music, or play the game, but not do both simultaneously. Hey what do you want here? This isn't one of those ordinary, slick, mass produced programs - this game has, er, um, naive and rustic charm which only a blind horse could possibly appreciate during a flower arranging competition! Apparently some 7000 lunatics er, I mean 'avid net surfers' rather, have already downloaded RVP from Mikes website and actually run it on their own machines! It seems that the term 'FREE DOWNLOAD' clouded their better judgement. Let that be a lesson to them I say! But enough from me, here's what other people say about this game - "Amusing for all the wrong reasons" "This game isn't worth downloading" "Very cool for lazy people" "Good if you want to get bored" "Awful" "This is possibly the worst 'game' since Advanced Lawn Mower Simulator. However, it does provide an illuminating and disturbing insight into the political mindset of the author." (I contend this latter comment is balderdash! G.) "This game sucks, it is just some 5 year old drawings and typing in the bottom that says what's happening. it's a waist of time to download this game." (at least when Mike was five, he could spell better than this person!) To conclude, it is apparent that the glaring secret behind the making of RVP is way over many peoples' heads (especially those who can't spell, or who talk nonsense about mindreading and politics). Humorously challenged souls should steer well clear of this program, they'll never get their heads around it! However, rather than letting you lie tossing and turning all night, struggling to uncover the secret, I can give you a small clue to what this silly game is really about, in the form of an anagram - "OJKE" Dare you discover the awful truth for yourselves? RVP can be downloaded FREE from - http://inforave.cjb.net You must have the VB5 runtime files in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder to make this program run apparently.
