Boxman Reviewed by Sue Boxman is one of those silly, addictive games which can drive you crazy. Programmed by Jeng-Long Jang, it's a great little game to load up when you've got an odd 10 minutes and want a challenge. The game is simple. You have to make the character on screen move boxes to cover coloured circles. When all the circles on a particular level (or "world", as it's called in this game) are covered, you can progress to the next. The boxes start as yellow but go red when they cover a circle. When they go red, you can still move them again, they aren't fixed in place. The rules are equally simple. You can only push individual boxes. You can't pull them, or move two at once. So it's important not to block yourself into a corner or put a box up against a wall so that you can no longer get behind it. The first world is straightforward. You start in the middle with four short corridors leading off, one in each direction. Each has a circle and between you and the circles are four boxes. It's impossible to go wrong. The second world is a bit more complicated with only three circles and boxes but this time you have to push the box so far, move round it, push it in a different direction, and so forth. Walls or pillars can block your way and it can be difficult working out the correct route and sequence of moves to take. By world 3, things are hotting up with four circles and boxes and a lot more manoeuvring. And so it continues. Though there's no save as such, your current world is automatically saved but you can use the Go To World command and input a number to go back to any you've previously solved. Boxman is a small game and I have no idea how many worlds it contains. I'm currently struggling with world 15. It's so annoying to ALMOST have it but not quite. Some of the worlds look impossible to solve but when you know someone is on a higher world, you just HAVE to keep trying.
