He tells Simon to learn the Messenger ritual. Exhaust all dialogue with Diego d'Osma then click Petrus on Diego. Answer his searching questions with, Yes, No, No, No. It seems that Petrus knows Diego. Petrus tells Simon that he needs a weapon, Durandal, and for him to do the Messenger Ritual. Read the Song of Roland Entry in the keywords slot. Roland was attacked at the Pass of Roncevaux and, before he died, he placed his sword and his horn under him and turned his head towards the race of pagans. Leave the building and turn left. Go to the unfinished church building with no roof. Enter, right, forward twice, left, forward and then right. You should be facing a makeshift altar. Place the Messenger on the altar. The Messenger can answer only three questions. Make sure that one of them is Durandal. A way below ground is opened up for you. Go forward and you find the Durandal Puzzle. Turn the left drum so that the cross is showing and the right drum so that the horn is seen. Water will flow from the eyes of the carvings of Christ. It fills a reservoir and raises a platform. Take the torch from the wall on the left and go forward. Look at the shelves on the left. Put the torch on the middle ring on the right side. Take the wax block and click it on the wooden block to exchange them. Go below and turn right. Go forward and pick up the sword. Climb the stairs up from the basement mausoleum, go out of the front of the building and enter the top floor. Here you see a statue of St. James. Place the sword in his right hand and it will point to the third column on the far wall. Make a note of the position of this column and the symbol on it. Take the sword and the staff from the statue and go back to the basement. Place the sword on the wooden block in the centre of the floor. Turn to face the entrance. You must place the staff in the hole in the block just to the right of the door as you are facing it. This opens a secret compartment below and you get a shell. Leave the building and go to the snow covered area just past the Abbey Building. You will see a snow covered sword-like statue. Place the shell in the shell-shaped hole in its side and you get Durandal. The Bridge You are now at a bridge where you meet Sir William. Listen to what he has to tell you about his past. He will go to fight the demon, Hades and meet his death. Talk to Petrus twice and you will be told to heighten your intuition. Click on the rock to the left of the screen and then on the water in the bowl. You will see a vision of a sword in the river. Go to the bridge and walk towards Hades until he speaks. When he stops, turn right and go forward to the edge of the bridge. Take Durandal and throw it in the water. Hades will leap into the river after it. Continue across the bridge and into the tent. Here you can free Isabeau and talk to her. The Hamlet Talk to Nicholas who is the chap in blue on the left of the group. Talk to him four times and he will tell you about a haunted house. Talk to Petrus about the spirit and then enter the house. Go towards the cupboard and talk to the witch. Eventually, she will tell you to look at the table. Get behind the table so that you have your back to the wall. Click on the table then watch what you are shown. Click the jug of water on the pile of ashes and the burning figures. Now click the Ash/Couple on a space outside the drawn circle. I found that the point was at the lower right of the circle close to it. The witch will leave and you find yourself back outside the house again. Talk to Nicholas again to get the full story of the witch. Click the spirit on Petrus again. You now find yourself inside a church. Church Go forward and turn right. Open the cabinet and you get some string, a knife, a bowl and a hammer and nails. Go through the door on the left of the altar. Study, and then pick up the map on the stand. There is a letter "H" at the bottom left and a letter "T" on the upper right. Read the note by the window. It seems that the priest left behind something that he made from his vision. Go to the wall behind the altar and place the map on the wall. Go up the stairs and make your way along to the stained glass window. Place the staff in one of the holes that are around the rosette. Turn it around to the "H" or "T" and you hear a click. Return to the map and you will see a spot of light on it. Use the hammer and nails to hammer a nail into this spot. Now return to the window and turn the staff to the other letter. Again you will hear a click. Go back to the map and repeat the process with the hammer and nails. Use the string to tie the two nails together. You will see that it crosses the word AGAPE. Go back to the window and click on the letters of the word AGAPE. The round part of the window falls out onto the floor and makes an entrance like a manhole cover. Go to the bell rope. Look down and click the end of the rope onto the pull ring of the metal circle. Save your game here! Click on the top of the rope. The tolling of the ball will keep the cover open for a short while. Go down into the room below, read the inscription on the wall, click on the amulet necklace on the statue, read the inscription on it and get out quickly. You now find yourself at the Fortress. Fortress Before going into the Fortress, look at the hanged man to the left and click on the drawbridge. Enter the Fortress, turn right and pick up the iron bar on the heap. Click on the door three times and listen to what is said. It seems that Diego d'Osma is in there with Marc. You will have to find some way of removing the lump of wood that is blocking it. Look behind you and to the right of the drawbridge. You will find the drawbridge controls. Click on the lever to the right to raise the bridge then use the iron bar on the chain to jam it. Click on the chain on the drum and then click the chain on the wood by the door. Now remove the iron bar to lift the wood from the door. Go inside and listen to what is said. You will have to find the key to cage to get Marc out. Look in the cupboard on the wall and you are rewarded with a crossbow and an axe. Leave the Fortress and go to the hanging man. Use the crossbow on the rope that he hangs from then use the axe on the pole in front of you. You can now cross the moat using the pole, look down and retrieve the cage key from the hanged man. Go back to the Fortress and free Marc from his cage. You are now sent to find Belibaste. Belibaste's House Talk to Belibaste and then enter the house. Cross the pool and click on the green bottle by the maze map. Enter the maze. The maze can be traversed by trial and error but you are looking for a room with a table in it. The following is, I think, one-way. After entering the maze, turn left and go forward until you can take the second exit on the right. Go forward again and take the third exit on the right. The maze seems to spiral now so keep following around the spiral and you should arrive at the table room. Read the inscription on the left wall just as you enter the room. Go to the table and click on the cheese. You should now be back at the Pool Room. Go back across the pool towards the door and, as you stand in front of it, look down at your reflection and that of the door. Click on the door's reflection and you will meet Belibaste, the hermit, again. Listen to what he says then turn around and enter the door. Follow the passage towards the light. You are now in an area with four knights around you. Go to the silver knight. Go behind it and click on it. A door opens. Go through the door and through the eye. Three Kings Puzzle You will see the entrances to three caves, each guarded by a ghost. In front on you is a large crossbow. Use it to kill one of the ghosts. Go to each of the others and talk to them. Each one holds a king prisoner in his cave. Find out from each ghost what gift it wants then go into the caves and talk to the kings. Each one will give you a weapon. There are two objects like light shades hanging in each cave. Break them to get a selection of gifts. Go back outside the caves and give one of the ghosts the gift that it requires then use the correct weapon to kill it as it bends down. This is a bit trial and error and the save game facility is useful here. Having killed both of the ghosts, leave the room through the eye again and return to the area of the knights. Red Knight Go to the Red Knight and look down on the lever mechanism. Place the Peace Tube at the base of the right-hand lever. Moving the tubes on each of the levers produces a different sound. The idea is to make the word AGAPE from the sounds. Place the tube on the left-hand lever on the third position from the bottom of the lever. The centre tube should be placed at the very top and the right-hand tube second from the bottom. When you have completed this, click on the protrusion at the bottom right of the stand. Get the jar from the shattered dragon statue. Black Knight Go to the Black Knight and click on his forehead. You will have to be in exactly the right position to do this. Look down the beam of light that appears and you see a skull shaped impression on the ground. Click the Progress symbol on his forehead and the beam will move to another place and show Justice, the Black Heart. Click the jar on the black heart to get a shadow in a jar. Green Knight Go to the Green Knight and leave the area via the opening at its base. You now find yourself in a Cathedral with Hades. Cathedral Talk to Hades until there is no more to say. He tells you that you are both in Limbo and will stay there as you have both lost your shadows. You now have to gamble with him. The Chess Puzzle Click the white pawn on the blue book / manuscript on the chessboard. This brings the white pawn to bag. Move the white pawn from the black square to the white square above it. Click on the white rook (St James Statue) to replace it on the board then move the white rook to the white square on the far left to win. Hades will now leave. There are statues around the cathedral. Click on the one of St James for some further information. Click the Shadow in the jar on him to find out that "Life is just a Question."
