Hints for MM9 From Julian Gregory 1. Cast the Lloyds Beacon spell as soon as you can. This will speed up travel between the different cities. Unlike in previous games the spell does not decay and remains available to its caster for the remainder of the game. 2. Search all bodies you have killed for treasure. 3. Take as much treasure as you can. You will need the gold when you sell it. 4. Have one party member learn the Merchant spell as soon as possible. This will mean that you will get better prices. 5. I suggest having 2 characters on the Might path and 2 Spellcasters. 6. Save and save often. Save before combat and after and before resting in case you are disturbed whilst resting and have not recovered fully. 7. Recruit other NPCs if you wish. But beware that they will require payment and you may not be able to afford this early in the game. 8. Talk to as many people as you can. Most the of people who offer promotions are just walking around in the various cities. 9. Look for wells, which will give permanent increases in attributes. 10. Look for Clover plants which you can pick, just once, for clover leaves which will increase the skill points by one. This may be useful if you need a quick promotion but do not have enough points. 11. Locate and touch the Town Portals in each city. This will enable you to travel there by using the Town Portal spell. 12. Combat in this game seems to need more spells than in previous ones. Learn as many different one as possible. 13. Try to only use experience points on skills that are of use to a particular character. 14. Do not spend more points on a particular skill so as to exceed that character's ability. For example the Merchant skill can only be used by a Gladiator at Expert level. 15. If you are not going to use a particular skill scroll, it is better to sell it, than to give it to someone who cannot benefit from it to any great extent. 16. Have all your players learn the Bow skill as soon as possible. This greatly helps with combat at a distance. Even characters who can only use the skill at a Normal level should still learn. 17. Try to give specific skills to the best person able to use them, rather than give everybody every skill. You will not have sufficient skill points to be able to promote everyone in all skills. - o -
