DUNGEON SIEGE - part 1 Solution supplied by Steve Chapman Found on the Internet but with additions FARMLANDS The farmlands is where you begin your quest through Dungeon Siege. Your farm is under attack by a bunch of nasty Krug and you must fight your way through the map. The first thing you need to do here is get used to your character and how to control him or her, how to move the camera and most importantly how to kill stuff. No matter what you plan to develop your main character as, Combat Magic is probably your best weapon at the very beginning, but for most of the map you can use melee also if you wish. This game is a marathon it is not a sprint so you will have plenty of time to mold yourself into whatever type of specialist or combination character you choose but Fireshot is your best weapon on this map and you will find it next to some barrels at your starting point. Click "I" to open your inventory and then the arrows next to your spellbook to open it and drag the spell to it. Now it can be selected from the slots next to your character portrait in the upper left hand side of the screen. You will find the Fireshot spell right in front of your starting position next to the farm house. You will start out next to a farmhouse but exploring the chicken coop to the east will let you find a few melee weapons that can be used in addition to Fireshot. After that you will pretty much just follow the path leading from the farmhouse and kill everything that gets in your way. Eventually you will come to the house of Norrick off to the right, the house is empty except for the Krug that will run out of the front door and attack you. Norrick's house is where you will find a useful spell to use later in the game by whomever your Nature Magic user is: Magic Armor. If you explore the area to the right of Norrick's house you will eventually come to the home of the Cave Bear. The Cave Bear is the toughest foe you will face on the Stonebridge map. If you plan to melee him you will need to be prepared to use several healing potions. He is easier to take down using the hit and run method with fireshot. Continuing back down the main path you will run into Edgaar's house. Edgaar is sitting inside and needs your help with a quick little side quest to clear out his basement which has been invaded by Krug including a Named Krug called Brankar the Scavenger. The rest of the map just involves clearing your way down the path to the next area "Path to the Crypts" Level Recap Quests Received: "Seek out Gyorn in Stonebridge "Given by Norrick at the very beginning of the game. This just involves traveling to the town of Stonebridge and speaking to Gyorn who will be waiting next to the gate when you enter town. Your reward will be him offering to join your party. "Clear Edgaar's Basement" Given by Edgaar at his home. Proceed to Edgaar's basement and defeat the Krug there. Your reward is the items you find. There is not really anything overly important on this level you are just making your way to the first large dungeon you will experience in Dungeon Siege and collecting some basic items along the way to make your trip through there a bit easier. When you start the map look to the left immediately to find the cave that houses a Boss Krug named Klandank the Krug. Exploring his cave gives you access to his crates of goodies. Continuing down the main path you will eventually run into the destroyed bridge where Skartis will tell you that you will have to take the path through the Crypts in order to get to Stonebridge. This will automatically update your quest journal. From there you will encounter several Wolves and then you will see the crypt sign and the Life Shrine which is the location of another Boss character, the Alpha Wolf. Stand on the Life Shrine and fight the wolves to make yourself virtually indestructible with the constant healing it provides. Next up is the Krug camp, nothing special here but hey it's more stuff to kill. After the Krug camp you will eventually see another Crypt sign where there is a fork in the road. Taking the path to the right leads to a statue that activates a secret area. In the back room clicking the statue in the middle springs up two skeletons that are not happy to see you. Return to the main path and finish the map by continuing to the cemetery and the entrance to the Crypts. This dungeon is not overly difficult if you use some strategy to keep some of the heat off of you. It is probably easier for a melee character but can certainly be done well enough by any type. You should find some decent weapons and armour along the way as well. Using the doorways to duck around and draw monsters to you is a big help on this level. Probably the most important part of the map is at the very end when you pick up your first party member. This map is almost exclusively Skeletons and Gargoyles with 2 boss characters thrown in. When you first enter you will go straight to a room that has a mana and health fountain in it, use these to help yourself in the initial battles. After clearing this area you will see a staircase off to the left that leads to the first boss character of the level which is the Skeleton Captain who is a pretty good melee fighter. After disposing of the Skeleton Captain there is a switch hidden around the corner on the wall that opens one of the two additional areas you will find on this map. After finishing this part return to where you are here and look for the second switch which is in this same hallway on the left hand wall. Activating this switch will open the second hidden area of the level. There are only two hidden areas so the rest of the level is pretty straight forward. There are some very crowded rooms though before you get out so you want to tread carefully and just pull out what you can handle. You also have one more Boss character to battle which is the Ruby Gargoyle. The Ruby Gargoyle attacks you with lasers that shoot from its eyes. So don't waste any time here just rush in and melee him. Ulora will be waiting for you at the very end of the level. She is being held captive by a few Krug Scouts which should be no challenge for you at this point. There are no real hidden areas that you might miss and no quests or NPCs worth noting except for two Boss characters that you will encounter. You will have to fight a bunch of Krug on this map and they receive an upgrade in the form of the Krug Grunt who has 28 HPs. So it is important that you tip toe your way through parts of this map because there are several camps you will encounter where there are about 10 in the same area and getting more than 2 or 3 on you at the same time can be tough. But you can pull them in small numbers by proceeding slowly. The main path will take you straight through the majority of the map. When you get to the first Krug camp there is a tower located there that is home to the first Boss character of the map. Huskar the Shaman is at the very top of the tower. Huskar will switch from Combat Magic to Melee if you rush him and he will be easier to kill. The next camp is where you will find Futak the Trainer. If you can pull his Grunts first by slowly approaching the camp you can fight Futak alone. Futak has about twice as many HPs as the Grunts so try to pull him by himself. After the third camp you will see the gate to the city of Stonebridge. There are also several merchants here to buy/sell weapons, armour, shields, potions, spells or spell books. There is even a packmule vendor here also. The entire town is laid out on the map in the screenshots section along a key (shown below) to explain each part further. If you just want a quick look at the quests to make sure you didn't miss anything read recap section at the bottom of the page. Steve says: I suggest that you accept Gyorn's offer to join your party and pay for one of the other three NPCs and buy a mule if you can afford it then come back here when you have collected as much treasure as you can carry sell it and then when you have enough money buy the other NPCs. 1. Gyorn will be standing next to his demolished catapult when you enter the city. Speaking to him will complete the quest you received from Norick. He will offer to join your party and give you a new quest to seek out the Overseer. 2. The Town Mill is where you find Alanna who has a small problem she needs help with. She will ask you to go to the beach and kill the Black Skrubbs that are living there. This is not an actual quest but just a way to help the town and there are several crates you can loot there. 3. Mara is standing in the centre of town and will give a little information on what happened to it. 4. The Jack and Mare is where you can purchase a packmule to help you carry loot, the cost is 320 gold. 5. The Black Forge Hammer sells armour, weapons and shields. 6. Ordus will be standing his beside his burnt down house and will give you a quest to retrieve his axe from the northern guard tower on the next map. 7. Etan's Roost is where you can find 2 new NPCs to join your party. Zed is a Nature Magic user who is standing on the main floor and Rusk is a warrior who is sleeping upstairs. You need to also speak with Ella who is upstairs to get a quest to deliver a message to her sister in the town of Glacern. 8. The Shrine of Passion is where you can buy potions, spells and spellbooks, There is also another NPC here named Naidi who is a Bowyer. 9. Speak with the town guard before leaving to receive a quest to clear a way to Glitterdelve. Level Recap Quests Received: - Gyorn's Reports Speak with Gyorn at the town's entrance, he will tell you about his need to find the Overseer in the town of Glacern. - A Sister's Message Speak to Ella Riverstarn in Etan's Roost, She needs you to deliver a message to her sister Ada in the town of Glacern. - Ordus' Axe Speak with Ordus (6 on the map above), he wants you to recover his axe from the Northern guard tower on the next map which you can then keep for yourself. - Clear Glitterdelve Pass Speak with the town guard at the exit, He needs a path cleared to the city of Glitterdelve, this involves removing the rocks that are blocking the door on the next map but you can only remove them from the other side so you have to wait until you complete Wesrin's cross.
