Visual Paradox www.visualparadox.com Visited by Sue If there's one thing I like, it's an interesting desktop! If you feel the same, this is the site for you. Visual Paradox concentrates on hi-res, 3D images for wallpaper and backgrounds plus screensavers, themes and skins. There's no charge for personal use, just download and apply. The site is run by Brian S Kissinger and all the images are drawn by him using several programs. These are: Bryce 5.1, Poser 4, Adobe Photoshop 6 and Amorphium Pro. What is 3D rendered art? 3D images are created by manipulating a 3D grid or mesh into a 3D shape, then applying an image to it. Then lights are positioned and a camera is used to create the final image. By moving the objects, camera or lights, you can create animations. The site is financed by its banners, The author also sells mouse mats and prints of some of his work at a reasonable price. The wallpaper is divided into several categories such as scenic real world, creatures, sci fi and fantasy, humourous, objetcs, abstract and holidays. Holidays covers special events like Halloween, New Year and birthday. The quality is amazing and the detail ... some of the dragon images are incredible. Other sections cover photos. Animals, cities, vistas etc. Some of these are under licence from another site as are the screensavers, WinAmp skins and other more specialised downloads. The shutdown and start up screens are also 3D. They're adapted from wallpapers. You can also add ripples to your desktop by downloading GTRipple. This works best with images containing areas of water and reflections such as Lighthouse and Skyscraper. Well worth a visit! - o -
